Sustainability and ecology
Incorporating nature
We are committed to protecting and enhancing the natural environment, with a focus on creating a thriving ecosystem that benefits both people and wildlife. Our proposals will target a biodiversity net gain of at least 10%, exceeding national requirements and ensuring long term ecological improvements.
A key part of our approach is the retention and enhancement of existing ecological assets, where possible, while also establishing green corridors and a range of species rich habitats to boost biodiversity. This will create stronger ecological connections between the site and the wider landscape, enhancing local wildlife populations.

New publicly accessible open spaces for all to enjoy
High-quality open spaces, totalling more than 25ha, will form an integral part of the development, offering a range of recreational and ecological benefits. Our plans include:
- Public green spaces designed for relaxation and community activities.
- Areas of play equipment for children to enjoy.
- Extensive landscaping and new tree planting to support local biodiversity and soften potential visual impacts.
- Safe walking and cycling routes to encourage active lifestyles and sustainable travel choices.
- The retention of key natural assets, ensuring that important environmental features are protected and enhanced for future generations.
We are also committed to respecting and complementing the wider natural landscape, ensuring our proposals align with the ecological character of the area. Key local assets, such as Earlswood Lakes and Clowes Wood Nature Reserve, will be carefully considered, ensuring that our approach supports their continued conservation and ecological value.
